Hi Bigsheff

Hmmmm... let me think.

You could have put.........

No sorry, what do you do all day?

Just thought I would share this with you.

A quote from the Police Inspector Blog linked from one of Wheelies Blogs.

"The Welfare State used to be a safety net not a lifestyle choice."

God Bless

Jem

Hey Sheffy, I'll answer a bit of this one.

Think you're being a teeny bit unfair bro' Jem.

Sheffy worries about being unemployed. Frequently, in my ear. Applies for lots of jobs, but never advertises he does. But he tells me when he does.

Has health problems, and like most unemployed, has credit & bill problems and never asks for help. But he tells me about them. Asks nothing from me and mine.

If I had to pick a fault, he doesn't tell everyone about his efforts to find work, because he doesn't want to disappoint. He's eager to please. He worries about coming across as a failure. He's SO eager to please and to be seen as success.

He's a proud and steadfast chap - and yeh, he can be a complete pillock at times - but who isn't? I don't always agree with him, but I'd worry if I did :)

He's caring, loyal, loving, and loud. And I wouldn't have him any other way.

Soz Sheffy, had to be said.

P.S.

Jem, you should be aware that most people who have periods of unemployment get despondent for brief periods. It's horrible.

Not like Job Centre plus cares. You have to prove week to week you're looking for work..., or lose your income. Tell you what, have a chat with some unemployed people about their day to day life, benefit claims, and how the system works.

Then chat to them about how that affects their rent, gas, electricity, food, ect.
